A GOOD DOSE OF HOPE….

Insight Flyer

What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters to what lies within us.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

As the world approaches the new normal, our cadets show us what it means to have a positive outlook – an amazing display of talent & strength.
Time to re-evaluate & rework on our priorities, our passion & hidden tendencies. Let’s look at what our cadets are doing during these uncertain times that bring moments of opportunity for many…. How we choose to focus our minds and act can change our pathways completely.

A GOOD DOSE OF HOPE….

Kevin Duckworth

Hi everyone my name is Kevin Duckworth and I’m a cadet in the Chipmunks batch of our institute Insight Flyer. The lockdown has been a testing time for everyone and absolutely does entail a certain amount of mental strain to be confined to the walls of your house/flat. With that being said there is also a resurgence of one resource that we usually take for granted, “Time”.

Although my instructors would probably like for me to study with all the free time around (Haha), other than my preparation for the DGCA exams I have picked up a few hobbies to help me be a little more productive during the lockdown:

  1.  Reading – I used to read a lot in middle school and to some extent in high school as well but in college I lost this habit as my focus was basketball. Currently I am reading “Inferno” by Dan Brown which is coincidentally also about a pandemic, it is a really cool book with extremely detailed insights (pun intended).
  2. Skipping/Jumping Rope – Since it isn’t the safest thing to go to the court and play basketball, which I love doing, I picked up an old skipping rope lying around the house and have definitely gotten hooked to it.
  3. Studying – I hope my instructors are reading this.
  4. Restriction on screen time – well that does seem like a vague heading but I feel this is important given almost everyone is at home and at the mercy of their devices. I make an effort to avoid the amount of time I spend on screens and social media and have found that it increases my focus and attention span.
  5. Playing the guitar-  I like old school music like the Eagles and I learnt that I can pretend to play Hotel California and New Kid in town. And a couple of songs by Bryan Adams that I can actually successfully complete without butchering it.  (I spend more time on the guitar than the CX3)

End note- Jokes aside, I do hope the combined effort of our instructors and cadets will pay off resulting in the Chipmunks clearing their papers, and head off to South Africa to compete to be the best batch Insight has had.

Vinayak Agarwal

The best thing that happened post lockdown was my first flight, my dream of being into the air. The feeling which I really cannot express in words but getting to feel all those positive and negative G’s, getting the so-called adrenaline rush and the desire to fly forever.

A dream of being into the air, a dream for which I waited for years, a dream which was not easy but achievable. A dream or my dream that finally came true.

Would like to end my experience with this famous quote of Leonardo da Vinci –

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return”.

At crossroads in my life, I decided to become a pilot. The rewarding career called for intense training and guidance, and I was fortunate enough to have found “Insight Aviation” early on in my journey. The management and instructors made my dream to be a pilot more realistic. After the rigorous ground school, the flying training began at 43 Air School. My first flight was just a blink to register in my memory. The experience of gazing at the world from the cockpit, feeling the clouds surrounding the aircraft, is beyond words. The pressure of multi-tasking, examining the engines, navigation systems, weather conditions, and various other pre and post-flight checks and several exams prevails amid the joy of flying. But everything is fun and easy because I am living my dream to completion each day, surrounded by the most amazing people, the “Spitfires.”  Thank you! Insight Aviation for leading my way!
